This first piece I created was meant to be a sort of visual embodiment of the circle of life kept in a traditional medicine ball from Japanese culture. The medicine ball took me a day to make and was made up of 40 separate units sewn together in groups of 10. This was a very intricate and detailed piece to make but I feel that the final outcome was extremely delicate and understated just like life itself. I felt that we all take life for granted and disregard the little things in life when they are usually the things we remember later on in life. I hope that my work expresses my intentions in the way I hoped so that maybe we will stop and smell the roses once in a while rather than just rushing through life until the bitter end.
